Alfie Barker is a Leeds born/based writer and director who grew up making short films with his dog instead of going to uni.

His short HANGING ON was long-listed for a BIFA, shortlisted for a Grierson Award, premiering at TIFF, screening at BFI London Film Festival and won both Best British Short and UK Audience Award at Encounters.

Alfie is a previous BFI Future Film Award winner, Sundance Ignite Finalist and shortlisted for Sony Future Filmmaker Award 2023. He is an alumni of Screen Yorkshire's FLEX, Creative UK’s ShortFLIX and BFI Film Academy (NFTS).

His fiction short HALF WAY funded by BFI Network is due for release in 2023, starring SAMEENA JABEEN AHMED (Catch Me Daddy) and he is developing his debut feature film on Le Groupe Ouest's LIM: Less Is More Screenwriters lab.
